NETHERLANDS VS USA 

All the group-stage matches of the World Cup ended yesterday.  The pre-quarter matches will start today.

 Group A champions Netherlands will face Group B runners-up USA in the first pre-quarter.  This match will be held at the Khalifa International Stadium at 8.30 PM IST.  As the winners advance to the quarter-finals and the losers are eliminated, it will be an intense battle.  Orange enter the group stage without losing a single match.  They won 2 matches and drew against Ecuador.  Their trump card is in-form striker Cody Gakpo.

 Also, having many talented players like Depay, Diong, van Dijk, Delit, Dumfries, Blind, Klaasen, Toka, Divrij in the team is something that gives the Netherlands an advantage.  On the other hand, the USA is the second runner-up behind England from Group B.  Remarkably, they are also undefeated.  The U.S. was able to tie the giants England.  Sharp counterattacks increase their strength.

1) All five previous meetings between the Netherlands and the USA have been in friendlies – the Oranje won the first four between 1998 and 2010, with the USA winning the most recent encounter in 2015.
