WORLD CUP 2022 :- Portugal vs South Korea Preview, Line Up, Match Info

PORTUGAL VS SOUTH KOREA

The final matches of the group stage of the World Cup will be held today. The group stage matches will conclude with 4 matches to be played today

Anyway, Cristiano Ronaldo's Portugal will enter the field today aiming for first place.  The match will be played at Education City Stadium at 8.30 pm.  Portugal will face Asian powerhouses South Korea.

If they win today, Parangipada can win 3 out of 3 and enter the pre-quarters as group champions. Even if there is a draw, the result will be different.  Defeat will not be a problem for Portugal as they have already secured a pre-quarter berth.

A win on the other hand would at least leave South Korea with a glimmer of hope. A win today would give South Korea the advantage on goal difference and a win against Uruguay or a draw would give Ghana the advantage against Uruguay. Portugal is currently in first place with 6 points from 2 matches and Korea is third with only one point.

Reports are coming out that superstar Cristiano Ronaldo will not be present in today's match. But it does not announced officially

INSIGHTS

1) The only previous meeting between the Korean Republic and Portugal was at the 2002 FIFA World Cup, where Korea won the group stage match 1–0 on home soil. Portugal was eliminated from the competition after winning their group.

2) Portugal's only defeat in five meetings with Asian teams at the FIFA World Cup came against the Korean Republic in 2002, with Portugal winning three and drawing one of the other four games.

3) Korea Republic has won just five of their 23 FIFA World Cup matches against European teams (D6 L12), with each of those five wins coming against a different country (Poland, Portugal, Italy, Greece, Germany).

4) Korea Republic has lost five of their last seven World Cup matches (W1 D1) and their previous 16 (W5 D6). They will be looking to win their third group game for the third time in the tournament after 2002 (against Portugal) and 2018 (against Germany).

5) Portugal has already qualified for the knockout stages of the 2022 World Cup, beating Ghana and Uruguay so far. After 1966 and 2006, they are trying to win all three matches in the group stage for the third time.
