GERMANY VS COSTA RICA
The European giants Germany flew to Qatar as one of the title favourites in the World Cup.
But things were getting out of hand. The unexpected defeat against Japan in the first match affected the team a lot. Their pre-quarter hopes hung in the balance after a draw against trailing Spain. But they have a small window of opportunity ahead of them. But Spain wants to be born. They have to beat Costa Rica in today's match. If both of these things happen, Flick and his team will regain lost faith.
A win today and a win for Spain against Japan would see Germany secure a pre-quarters spot and finish second with 4 points. But a draw or defeat will slam the doors on them. A win here is not enough to turn things around. If Spain loses to Japan, Germany will need a huge six- or seven-goal win to get through to the knockouts. Anyway, Germany will go into the field today aiming for a big win. Costa Rica on the other hand is third with 3 points. If they can topple Germany, they can reach the pre-quarters unaided. Instead, the result is a draw, but with fewer odds. Japan wants to fail. In any case, Costa Rica might be able to mount a big challenge for Germany today. If the strong on paper can fight back on the field, the knockout dream can become a reality. This match will be played at Al Bait Stadium at 12.30 AM IST. Anyway, we can wait for more hours to know who will fall and who will rule
